There were goals aplenty when Rotherham United and Morecambe met in this competition seven years ago. League Two outfit Morecambe edged Championship side Rotherham in a nine-goal thriller at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. The Shrimps ran out 5-4 winners as Jack Dunn completed his treble in the final minutes of the tie.

Cole Stockton gave Morecambe the lead early on before Greg Halford equalised for the hosts in the second half. Dunn put the visitors back in front before Rotherham struck twice with less than 10 minutes remaining to make it 3-2.

It looked as though it would be the Millers who would advance, only for the eventual hat-trick hero to level from the spot in injury time to force it to extra-time. Kevin Ellison and Liverpool loanee Dunn made it 5-3 and, although Rotherham pulled another goal back in the dying moments, Morecambe held on.
