Occupying the spot between the sticks in the EFL team of the week is Gillingham shotstopper Jake Turner, who returned a WhoScored.com rating of 7.71 in the Gills' 0-0 draw at Forest Green. The 24-year-old made four saves in the stalemate to guarantee a result for Stephen Clemence's side.

Centre-back: Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Southampton) - 8.64 rating

Southampton made it a whopping 15 games unbeaten as they beat QPR 1-0 in west London over the weekend. Centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis was the star performer for Saints in the capital as the 21-year-old not only netted the only goal of the game but also put in a solid defensive showing to secure all the spoils. Indeed, the youngster made five interceptions, two clearances and one tackle in a superb rearguard display.

Centre-back: Wout Faes (Leicester) - 7.97 rating

Leicester were never in any real danger of conceding to Rotherham on Saturday in part due to the performance of Wout Faes at the back. The Belgian was successful with all five attempted tackles and found a teammate with 92.4% of his 144 attempted passes in an assured display from the 25-year-old.

Centre-back: Ryan Sweeney (Burton) - 7.87 rating

Completing the backline is Burton centre-back Ryan Sweeney, who earned a WhoScored.com rating of 7.87 in their 1-1 draw at Charlton on Saturday. The 26-year-old netted a late equaliser at the Valley, scoring with one of two efforts, while four interceptions and two tackles ensured Burton remained in the game right until the death.

Right midfield: Mitchell Pinnock (Northampton) - 8.47 rating

Mitchell Pinnock played a decisive role in Northampton's late 2-1 win over Oxford having registered a brace of assists in the narrow victory. The pair of assists came from five key passes, while additional returns of two tackles and one dribble saw Pinnock return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.47.

Central midfield: Elliot Lee (Wrexham) - 8.89 rating

Wrexham got the better of Welsh rivals Newport on Saturday afternoon, with Elliot Lee on hand to net their second in a 2-0 home win. Lee struck with one of three shots, and drove forward from midfield well having completed four dribbles. An additional four aerial duels won saw the 29-year-old collect the player of the match award with a WhoScored.com rating of 8.89.

Central midfield: Hector Kyprianou (Peterborough) - 8.77 rating

Peterborough were dominant in their 2-1 win at Shrewsbury on Saturday and key in the victory was central midfielder Hector Kyprianou. The 22-year-old was directly involved in both goals as he provided the assist for Ricky-Jade Jones' equaliser before netting a 77th minute winner. Those came from respective returns of four key passes and four shots as Kyprianou put in his best rated performance of the season so far.

Left midfield: Juninho Bacuna (Birmingham) - 9.22 rating

The player to round off the midfield comes from Plymouth's entertaining 3-3 draw with Birmingham at Home Park. Juninho Bacuna was superb for Wayne Rooney's side as he directly contributed to all three goals for the visitors, following up his pair of first half assists with a goal midway through the second half. Those came from respective returns of five key passes and three shots on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 9.22.

Striker: Andy Cook (Bradford) - 10.0 rating

The EFL player of the week this week is Andy Cook, who returned a perfect WhoScored.com 10 rating in Bradford's 3-1 win at Doncaster. Cook was directly involved in all three Bradford goals, netting twice from four shots and providing one assist from two key passes. The 33-year-old also won eight aerial duels in a superb display.

Striker: Max Dean (MK Dons) - 9.45 rating

Teenage frontmen Max Dean scored goals seven and eight for the season as MK Dons eased to a 3-1 win at Morecambe on Saturday. The 19-year-old's brace came from eight shots in total, with Dean a real thorn in the side of the Morecambe backline having also completed four dribbles to join Cook in attack.

Striker: Ben Whitfield (Barrow) - 8.73 rating

Promotion candidates Barrow secured their seventh successive win on Friday night as they eased to a 3-1 win at Crewe. Ben Whitfield netted goals three and four for the season at Mornflake Stadium, beating Tom Booth with two of four shots on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 8.73 to complete the XI
