Goalkeeper: Jak Alnwick (Cardiff) - 7.36 rating

Cardiff conceded just five goals from their five matches in September, with Jak Alnwick key in his four outings for the Bluebirds. Indeed, Alnwick made 11 saves and kept clean sheets in wins over Swansea, Sunderland and Rotherham to nail down the goalkeeper spot with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.36.

Centre-back: Lloyd Jones (Charlton) - 7.62 rating

Charlton also conceded just three goals last month, with centre-back Lloyd Jones doing enough to make the XI. No player made more clearances than Jones (29) in September, while 33 aerial duels won ranked fourth and helped the Addicks star to a WhoScored.com rating of 7.62.

Centre-back: Elliott Moore (Oxford) - 7.62 rating

Also returning a WhoScored.com rating of 7.62, Elliott Moore is the first of three Oxford players to feature in the team of the month. The 26-year-old scored one and assisted another for the U's in September, and made 215 accurate passes, that ranking 21st, contributing to Moore's inclusion.

Centre-back: Fraser Horsfall (Stockport) - 7.58 rating

No team collected more points than Stockport (13) in League Two last month, with centre-back Fraser Horsfall doing enough to make the EFL team of the month. Horsfall won the third most aerial duels (45) in League Two and ranked fifth for clearances (39) in September to contribute towards a WhoScored.com rating of 7.58.

Right midfield: James Tilley (Wimbledon) - 7.66 rating

Wimbledon scored the fifth most goals in League Two in September, with James Tilley key for the south London side last month. Tilley was directly involved in four of Wimbledon's 12 goals, netting three times. The 25-year-old also managed more shots (25) than any other player in League Two to nail down the right midfield spot with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.66.

Central midfield: Cameron Brannagan (Oxford) - 7.76 rating

With a WhoScored.com rating of 7.76, Cameron Brannagan features in the EFL team of the month. Two of the three goals Brannagan has netted this season were scored in September, both of which came in a 3-0 win over Exeter. An additional 11 tackles six key passes helped justify the Oxford's star's selection.

Central midfield: Daniel Kemp (Swindon) - 7.74 rating

Swindon's Daniel Kemp joins Brannagan in the middle of the park in the EFL team of the month with the 24-year-old vital as the Robins collected 11 points last month. Kemp was directly involved in five goals, scoring three, and was named the player of the match in two of five outings to land a WhoScored.com rating of 7.74.

Left midfield: Jack Clarke (Sunderland) - 8.40 rating

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke is the WhoScored.com EFL player of the month with a rating of 8.40. Clarke scored more goals (6) and completed more dribbles (15) than any other Championship player in September, while 13 shots ranked among the top 10 as the young winger impressed.

Striker: David McGoldrick (Notts County) - 7.92 rating

Notts County scored the third most goals (14) in League Two in September, with David McGoldrick vital for the promoted side in the final third. Indeed, the experienced attacker scored twice and provided one assist last month, and completed the fifth most dribbles (11) to feature with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.92.

Striker: Ali Al Hamadi (Wimbledon) - 8.19 rating

Wimbledon striker Ali Al Hamadi leads the charge having earned a WhoScored.com rating of 8.19 in September. The young forward was directly involved in a goal in each of his four league outings last month, scoring four goals and providing three assists to secure the individual award.

Striker: Louie Barry (Stockport) - 8.06 rating

Like Al Hamadi, Louie Barry was directly involved in a goal in each of his five league outings last month. No player scored more goals than Barry (5) in League Two in September, and managed the sixth most shots (15) to return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.06.
