Sunderland are rightly the dominant side in the EFL team of the week as they smashed Southampton 5-0 on Saturday, as three Black Cats representatives make the cut. Forest Green have two players feature, while QPR, Stevenage, Grimsby, Wimbledon, Portsmouth and Barnsley round off the XI.

Goalkeeper: Asmir Begovic (QPR) - 8.88 rating

Featuring between the sticks in the EFL team of the week is QPR shotstopper Asmir Begovic. The R's secured an impressive 2-0 win at Middlesbrough over the weekend, with Begovic key. Indeed, he chipped in with nine saves to keep a clean sheet and return the player of the match award with a WhoScored.com rating of 8.88

Right-back: Trai Hume (Sunderland) - 8.42 rating

The first of three Sunderland representatives in the EFL team of the week, Trai Hume features at right-back in the best XI. The young defender registered his first assist of the season in the Black Cats' thumping 5-0 win over Southampton, turning provider as Jack Clarke fired Sunderland ahead in the first minute. Centre-back: Dan Sweeney (Stevenage) - 8.62 rating

Dan Sweeney put in a player of the match showing on his first league start of the season for Stevenage as the Boro earned a fine 3-0 win at Leyton Orient. The 29-year-old netted in the victory, while his fine work off the ball ensured all the spoils for Steve Evans' side as Sweeney won five aerial duels and made five clearances and three tackles to feature with a WhoScored.com rating of 8.62.

Centre-back: Niall Maher (Grimsby) - 8.45 rating

Partnering Sweeney at the heart of the defence is Grimsby's Niall Maher. Like Sweeney, Maher also netted at the weekend as the Mariners defeated Gillingham 2-0 at Blundell Park. To go with his goal, the 28-year-old also made six clearances, two tackles and two interceptions to land a WhoScored.com rating of 8.45.

Left-back: Jamie Robson (Forest Green) - 8.09 rating

Rounding off the backline is Forest Green's Jamie Robson. David Horseman's side worked hard to earn a 1-0 win at Sutton over the weekend, with Robson essential to the clean sheet. The Scot chipped in with seven clearances, three tackles and three interceptions as he protected the Forest Green goal well, and he was a little unlucky not to register an assist having created two goalscoring chances to return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.09.

Central midfield: Harvey Bunker (Forest Green) - 8.61 rating

Remaining with Forest Green's win at Sutton, Harvey Bunker earned the player of the match award having garnered a WhoScored.com rating of 8.61. The 20-year-old bagged Rovers' decisive goal midway through the second half, hitting the back of the net with one of three shots. Bunker dominated off the ball, too, as he won nine aerial duels and made 11 clearances to cap a superb showing.

Central midfield: Pierre Ekwah (Sunderland) - 9.73 rating

With a WhoScored.com rating of 9.73, Sunderland's Patrick Ekwah is the EFL player of the week. The 21-year-old scored his first and second league goals of the season in Sunderland's 5-0 win over Southampton, finding a way past Gavin Bazunu with both shots at the Stadium of Light, and he worked hard off the ball, too, making four tackles and three interceptions in an excellent all-round display.

Central midfield: Bradley Dack (Sunderland) - 8.45 rating

The third and final Sunderland player in the side is summer signing Bradley Dack. Dack netted his first league goal for the Black Cats following his arrival, scoring with one of three shots. Right wing: James Tilley (Wimbledon) - 8.62 rating

Leading the charge in the EFL team of the week is Portsmouth striker Colby Bishop. The Pompey hitman bagged his third league goal of the season as John Mousinho's side got the better of Peterborough. Left wing: Nicky Cadden (Barnsley) - 8.29 rating

Completing the XI this week is Barnsley wideman Nicky Cadden. The Scot registered his third assist of the season as the Tykes beat Cheltenham 2-0, with Cadden turning provider for Devante Cole 10 minutes into the second half.
