Coventry won 1-0 away at Cardiff in the Championship last season – they have never won consecutive league visits to the Bluebirds in their history.
Cardiff are unbeaten in each of their last four league fixtures in midweek (W3 D1), though all three victories during that run have been away from home.
Having lost on four consecutive league trips to Wales between February 2021 and March 2022, Coventry are unbeaten in their last three such visits (W1 D2).
Since winning on his first two Football League trips to Wales as a manager, beating Wrexham in September 2007 and Cardiff in February 2010, Coventry boss Mark Robins has won only one of his 11 games since (D4 L6).
Preston North End v Birmingham City
Preston have only lost three of their last 19 league games against Birmingham City (W10 D6), although one was a home defeat last season.
The away team is unbeaten in the last six league meetings between Birmingham and Preston (W4 D2) since a 2-0 home win for Preston in July 2020.
Preston are unbeaten in their last 14 league midweek home games (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), winning five and drawing nine since a 1-0 loss to Watford in February 2021.
Only Blackpool (8) earned fewer points in midweek league games in last season’s Championship than Birmingham (10 – W2 D4 L6).
Only against Barnsley and Bristol City (both 5) does Birmingham’s Scott Hogan have more Football League goals than against Preston (4), though three came in his first such game for Brentford in September 2016 – he’s only scored once in his 10 appearances since.
Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City
Queens Park Rangers are winless in their last four home league games against Swansea City (D2 L2) since a 4-0 win in April 2019.
Swansea have only lost three of their last 14 league games against QPR (W7 D4), and didn’t lose either game against the Hoops last season (W1 D1).
After winning four of their first five midweek league games last season (L1), QPR are winless in their last six on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (D2 L4).
Since the start of 2021-22, Swansea have won only one of their five away league games in London (D2 L2), beating Millwall 1-0 in April 2022.
QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth is unbeaten against sides managed by Swansea's Michael Duff in the Football League (W2 D1), with all three games coming during his tenure at Wycombe against Cheltenham (W1 D1) and Barnsley (W1).
Southampton v Ipswich Town
Southampton and Ipswich haven’t met in a league game since the 2011-12 campaign, with their meeting at St. Mary’s that season ending in a 1-1 draw.
Ipswich are looking for their first away league win at Southampton since a 2-0 victory in January 2006, and are winless in four trips since (D3 L1).
Southampton have lost six of their last eight league games in midweek (W2), while failing to score in their previous three.
Ipswich haven’t lost a midweek league game since December 2021 against Charlton (2-0), with the Tractor Boys winning 12 of their 16 games since (D4).
Southampton’s Ché Adams has failed to score in five previous Football League appearances against Ipswich, only facing Aston Villa (14), Burnley and Millwall (both 6) more times without scoring.
Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesbrough
Only two of the last 27 league meetings between Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough have ended as draws (10 Wednesday wins, 15 Middlesbrough wins).
Middlesbrough have won four of their last five league visits to Sheffield Wednesday, though lost 2-1 in their most recent Hillsborough match in December 2020.
Sheffield Wednesday’s last midweek league defeat at home was against Swansea in the Championship in April 2021 (2-0), with the Owls winning 10 of their 12 such matches since.
Middlesbrough have lost each of their last two Championship games against newly promoted sides, both of which were away, against Sunderland in January (2-0) and Rotherham in May (1-0).
Sheffield Wednesday's Michael Smith has scored two goals in his last three league appearances against Middlesbrough, scoring for Rotherham in May 2019 and January 2021.
Blackburn Rovers v Sunderland
Blackburn are unbeaten in their last four home league games against Sunderland (W2 D2) since a 2-1 defeat back in November 2008.
The home team has won the last five league meetings between Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland, a run stretching back to New Year’s Day 2011.
Blackburn have lost just two of their last nine midweek leagues games at Ewood Park (W5 D2), but did lose the most recent one to Burnley 1-0 in April.
Sunderland lost four of their 11 midweek league games in last season’s Championship (W5 D2), but half of those losses have come in their last three such games (D1).
Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has won three of his last six league games against sides he’s previously managed (D1 L2), with wins over Blackburn, Middlesbrough and West Brom – it’s as many wins as in his previous 16 such games (D8 L5).
Huddersfield Town v Stoke City
Huddersfield Town have won just two of their last 12 league games against Stoke (D5 L5), although they did win 3-1 at home last season.
Stoke City have picked up just one win in their last 10 league visits to Huddersfield Town (D5 L4), a 5-2 win on New Year’s Day in 2020 under Michael O’Neill.
Huddersfield are unbeaten in their four league midweek matches since Neil Warnock’s return to the club, drawing their first three games before beating Sheffield United 1-0 in May.
Stoke haven’t lost an away league game in midweek since April 2022 against Reading (2-1), with the Potters winning three of their last five (D2).
Having lost each of his first four Football League matches against sides managed by Stoke boss Alex Neil, Huddersfield's Neil Warnock won the most recent encounter when Middlesbrough beat Preston 2-0 in March 2021.
Hull City v Leeds United
Hull have lost five of their last eight league games against Leeds United (W1 D2), with this their first such meeting since losing 4-0 in February 2020.
Leeds have won their last two away league games against Hull – they have never won three in a row away at the Tigers.
Hull have only won two of their last 10 league games against fellow Yorkshire clubs (D3 L5), though one of those wins was this season against Sheffield Wednesday (4-2).
Leeds have lost only one of their last 12 league games against other Yorkshire teams (W9 D2), and haven’t lost away to such a side since February 2018 against Sheffield United in the Championship (2-1).
Leeds striker Joël Piroe has only netted one goal in 358 minutes against Hull City in his four previous league appearances against them, netting the third goal in a 3-0 Swansea victory in September 2022.
Millwall v Rotherham United
Millwall are unbeaten in their last five league games against Rotherham United (W3 D2) since a three-game losing run between 2014 and 2018.
Since a 1-0 win away at Millwall in August 2014, Rotherham haven’t scored a single goal in any of their three league trips to the Den (D1 L2).
Since losing his first Football League game against Rotherham in August 2012, sides managed by Gary Rowett have only lost one of their last 12 such games (W7 D4), and are unbeaten in their previous eight such fixtures (W4 D4).
Rotherham have won just one of their last seven away league games in London since the start of 2020-21 (D2 L4), and that was a 1-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon in League One in February 2022.
Millwall’s Tom Bradshaw scored twice in this exact fixture last season in January, as many goals as in his first eight league appearances against the Millers.
Watford v West Bromwich Albion
Watford are unbeaten in their last five league games against West Bromwich Albion (W3 D2) since a 3-1 defeat in December 2016 in the Premier League.
West Brom are winless in their last five league visits to Watford (D2 L3), losing the last three in a row. Their last win at Vicarage Road was in November 2007 in the Championship.
Watford have won three of their last five league matches in midweek (D1 L1), though did lose their most recent one against Cardiff in April, going down 3-1.
Since returning to the Championship in 2021-22, West Brom have won only two of their 11 away league matches in midweek (D3 L6).
Watford manager Valérien Ismaël has won two of his previous three Football League meetings with sides managed by Carlos Corberan (L1), though did lose the most recent encounter when his West Brom side lost 1-0 to Huddersfield in November 2021.
Norwich City v Leicester City
Norwich have lost four of their last six league games against Leicester City (W1 D1), last facing the Foxes in the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, losing both games that term.
This is the first league meeting between Norwich and Leicester outside of the Premier League since the 2010-11 Championship campaign, with the two games both Norwich wins with 12 goals scored (4-3 & 3-2).
Norwich manager David Wagner is winless in his three previous Football League meetings with Leicester (D1 L2), losing each of the last two, and conceding three goals in both defeats.
Leicester have won only one of their previous six league games during midweek (D2 L4), beating Leeds 2-0 in the Premier League in October 2022.
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has been involved in six goals in five Football League appearances against Norwich (4 goals, 2 assists), netting a brace when the two sides last met in the league at the King Power Stadium in May 2022.
