GK: Anthony Patterson (Sunderland) - 7.76 rating

Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson was the highest rated goalkeeper in the EFL over the weekend, earning a 7.76 WhoScored.com rating for his efforts in the 2-0 victory at Cardiff. The 24-year-old was forced into making four saves, while he also made two high claims and completed seven accurate long balls.

CB: Krystian Bielik (Birmingham) - 8.86 rating

With a WhoScored.com rating of 8.86, Birmingham's Krystian Bielik earns a place in our back three. Bielik was imperious at the back in their 1-1 draw with Reading, winning eight aerial duels, making five clearances, five interceptions, four tackles and blocking three shots.

CB: Paudie O’Connor (Lincoln) - 8.64 rating

Lincoln played out one of the games of the day in League One on Saturday, as they came from behind to beat Burton at the Pirelli Stadium. Paudie O'Connor scored twice for the Imps in their 3-2 win, getting the better of Harry Isted with two of three efforts on goal. The 27-year-old also managed four clearances, one tackle and one interception as he earned a WhoScored.com rating of 8.72.

CB: Lloyd Jones (Charlton) - 8.55 rating

Charlton got their League One campaign off to a winning start as they beat Wigan 1-0 at the Brick Community Stadium. Centre-back Lloyd Jones was key as the Addicks claimed all three points, netting late on with his only effort on goal. Jones also chipped in with seven clearances and won seven aerial duels to return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.40.

RM: Vitinho (Burnley) - 8.91 rating

Burnley’s Vitinho earns a place on the right-hand side of our midfield four, having starred in the Clarets’ dominant 4-1 win away to Luton on Monday evening. The Brazilian fired home the visitors’ fourth goal of the evening, while he also made two dribbles, seven tackles and two clearances.

CM: Oliver Arblaster (Sheffield Utd) - 8.44 rating

One of the highest rated performers on the Championship’s opening weekend was Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Arblaster, who scored in the Blades’ 2-0 victory at Preston on Friday night. In a strong all-round midfield display, the 20- year-old also made two key passes, two successful dribbles, three interceptions and nine ball recoveries.

CM: Ben Garrity (Port Vale) - 8.39 rating rating

Port Vale got their season off to a winning start as they beat Salford 2-0 at the Peninsula Stadium. Ben Garrity scored both goals in the victory, netting with both shots, while two clearances and one tackle helped the Valiants to a clean sheet and the midfielder to a WhoScored.com rating of 8.35.

LM: Bryant Bilongo (Bristol Rovers) 8.46 rating

Bryant Bilongo put in a player of the match performance as Bristol Rovers claimed a 1-0 victory over Northampton on Saturday evening. Bilongo capped his debut with the late winning goal, hitting the back of the net with his only shot. The 22-year-old also won 10 aerial duels on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 8.46.

RW: Luke Molyneux (Doncaster) - 9.39 rating

Doncaster opened up their League Two season with a resounding 4-1 home win over Accrington, with winger Luke Molyneux the star performer for the Rovers. The 26-year-old was directly involved in three of Doncaster's four goals, netting with two of four shots and providing one assist from two key passes. An additional two dribbles saw Molyneux land a WhoScored.com rating of 9.24.

ST: Josh Maja (West Brom) - 9.53 rating

After bagging a hat-trick in West Brom’s opening win at QPR on Saturday, Josh Maja is our EFL Player of the Week. The 25-year-old equalised for the Baggies on 26 minutes, before adding his second and third goals of the afternoon shortly after half-time; what’s more, Maja found the net with all three of his attempts on goal.

LW: Duncan Watmore (Millwall) - 8.43 rating

Despite his side falling to a last-gasp defeat against Watford on Saturday, Millwall’s Duncan Watmore gave the Lions a chance of securing the points themselves when he scored twice in the space of 14 minutes late in the second half. To go with his goals, the 30-year-old also made three key passes and three successful dribbles.
