King of jungle Danny Jones declares love for Bolton Wanderers

McFly star and I'm a Celebrity Get Me out of Here winner Danny Jones is a boyhood Bolton Wanderers fan and has special memories of growing up supporting the Trotters.

Danny was born and raised in the Greater Manchester town and spoke about his love for the football club in an interview ahead of the 2023 EFL Trophy final.

He recalled his favorite players and matchday smells he associates with visits to their former ground Burnden Park. "My first memory of Bolton was travelling in with my dad and I'd heard about these pies, Burden Pies. You could smell them and as a kid, I'm thinking wow what's that smell?" Danny said.

"I tried a bit of my dad's and I thought wow. I'll never forget that smell. As we walked into the standing terrace the noise, the passion of the fans, and just the scale of what football was. It gave me the feeling that this is what football and supporting a team is about."

Danny explained how he is named after a famous Wanderers legend: "Here's a fact about me. My name is Daniel Alan David Jones. The David is after David Lee who used to play on the wing for Bolton. He was always a hero of mine.

"Then you have got John Mcginley who was another hero. Owen Coyle, Phil Brown Keith Branagan, Jussi Jääskeläinen, Mark Fish, we had so many amazing players that stood out for me."

Bolton went on to lift the 2023 EFL Trophy beating Plymouth Argyle 4-0 in the final at Wembley. The Trotters take on Huddersfield Town in the Round of 32 this season on Tuesday, December 10.
