What are the key points?
Triple Gameweek 21 will run from Boxing day to New Year’s Day, with 106 fixtures spread across three matchdays (26/29/01). All teams apart from:
- AFC Wimbledon
- Newport County
- Gillingham
- Bromley
Will play three times during the gameweek. If you're new, the Game Guidelines will guide you through the basics.
And don’t forget - if you haven’t signed up already, this is the perfect opportunity to do so!
Fantasy EFL uses a rolling lockout mechanic. This means that as soon as a team's match kicks off, their players and the team itself become locked. Once locked, you can no longer add, remove, or change the captain/vice-captain of that team. This means you must carefully consider kickoff times and plan your team accordingly, as your selections will become locked as soon as their matches start!
Seven players, two clubs, and a whole lot of drama in store.

How do I join the mini-league?

Max Captain chip
Another treat all Fantasy EFL managers have in store [unless you’ve used it already!]. We get to look forward to using the only chip in the game:
‘The Max Captain chip automatically makes the highest-scoring player in your team captain for that gameweek, once all players in your team have played.
The Max Captain chip can only be activated before the start of the first fixture of the Gameweek.
You can play your Max Captain chip twice over the course of the season.
The first chip can be played up until 31 January 2025, the second from 1 February 2025 onwards.
Select the lightning bolt icon on the ‘My team’ tab, as seen in the image above, to activate it.’
This is the beauty of the chip: it's a risk-free way to maximise your points. Even if you 'mispick' your captain, the game automatically crowns the highest scorer. Unlike other max captain chips, which can lead to regret, this one is pure potential! It’s essential to use for your best chance of winning the mini-league and bagging some ultimate goodies.
Top five club picks to target
With 68 tripling-sides, the options can feel endless as to who to select, particularly if you’re brand new to the English Football League. Below, we’ve highlighted five teams to keep an eye on:
Birmingham City - the Blues flying in League One following their relegation from the Championship. They have banked 42 points in 18 matches, and sit second in the division - currently in the automatic promotion spots. They have two back-to-back home fixtures in the TGW against struggling opposition.
Wrexham - the Red Dragons have been sensational following promotion from League Two, and sit in third-place with 41 points in 20 games. They also have two ideal home matches, as their imperious record in front of their home faithful has seen them win nine and draw two in 11.
Wycombe Wanderers - the Chairboys currently lead League One and are undefeated in their last 17 league matches under manager Matt Bloomfield in League One. They’re is poised to reap the rewards of away points on Fantasy EFL as they embark on consecutive away fixtures, before returning to Adams Park.
Watford - the Hornets are unbeaten in 16 games at Vicarage Road under Tom Cleverly, and two of their next three matches are on home soil should see this impressive record extended.
Walsall - the Saddlers are unbeaten in 10 league games and lead the League Two table with 40 points from 19 matches. They have the joint-best goalscoring record and the best goal difference. Two home matches this week present a chance to further strengthen their position.
