Matty Stevens' 16th goal of the season was enough to give AFC Wimbledon a narrow win over Gillingham and send the Dons up to second in Sky Bet League Two.

Stevens diverted James Tilley's corner past Glenn Morris in the 50th minute for the only goal of the game, which was enough to put Johnnie Jackson's side at the top of a group of five teams all on 37 points - and 12 points behind leaders Walsall.

It puts Stevens on 12 league goals for the season and thr former Forest Green forward could have added to his tally, seeing a sharp header saved by Morris in the first half.

The Gills pushed for a late leveller, with Armani Little coming closest, forcing Owen Goodman to push away a. sweetly struck free-kick, but Mark Bonner's side stay in 13th and are winless in three games.

The Dons, who have now won three in five, continue to have League Two's meanest defence, conceding just 18 goals all season.
