Wycombe secure date with Peterborough at Wembley

Wycombe Wanderers will play in their first ever Bristol Street Motors Trophy Final after a dramatic win over Bradford City booked a Wembley date with Peterborough United.

Matt Butcher clipped in a 91st-minute winner from the edge of the area at the University of Bradford Stadium to secure a third trip to the National Stadium in five seasons.

The Chairboys suffered League One Play-Off defeat against Sunderland in 2022, but have fonder memories of achieving promotion to the Championship with victory over Oxford United in 2020, albeit inside an empty Wembley.

Matt Bloomfield's side were not at their finest, with keeper Max Stryjek having to pull off a string of impressive stops to keep the Bantams at bay, with the Pole making seven saves in total.

Butcher's late strike was only Wycombe's second shot on target all night, but the Buckinghamshire side saw out the remaining minutes to confirm their spot against Peterborough in the Final on Sunday, 7 April.

"We want to enjoy the day and make the most of it," Bloomfield told Sky Sports.

"It’s the best place to win and the worst place to lose. We’re up against a very good Peterborogh team."
