Goalkeeper: Carl Rushworth (Swansea) - 7.65 rating

Swansea may have fallen to a 3-1 home defeat to Southampton on Saturday but it would have been a lot worse without Carl Rushworth's heroics between the sticks. While he conceded three, Rushworth made a total of seven saves and one high ball claim to secure his spot in the EFL team of the week.

Right-back: Liam Bennett (Cambridge) - 8.14 rating

Cambridge dug deep to earn a point at Exeter as the pair played out a 0-0 draw at St. James' Park. Liam Bennett's performance saw him yield a WhoScored.com rating of 8.14 as the 22-year-old made six tackles, five interceptions and two clearances. Bennett did all he could to set Cambridge on the frontfoot, too, as he completed two dribbles in the stalemate.

Centre-back: Michal Helik (Huddersfield) - 8.60 rating

Huddersfield held Blackburn to a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park with Michal Helik the star performer in the stalemate. The 28-year-old netted a first half equaliser against Rovers, that coming from his only effort on goal, while 12 clearances and four aerial duels won helped Helik to a WhoScored.com rating of 8.60, and crucially the Terriers to a positive result.

Centre-back: Eiran Cashin (Derby) - 8.09 rating

The star player from Derby's 0-0 draw with Lincoln, Eiran Cashin earned a WhoScored.com rating of 8.09 in the stalemate. Cashin made a total of eight clearances in the encounter, one of which was off the line, and won three aerial duels in a solid rearguard display.

Left-back: Jordan Jones (Wigan) - 7.95 rating

Jordan Jones put in a solid shift down the left for Wigan as they beat Reading 1-0 on Saturday to make it back-to-back home league wins. Jones returned a WhoScored.com rating of 7.95 in the narrow victory as he completed four dribbles and made one key pass. In addition, the 29-year-old also made five tackles to help the Latics to all the spoils.

Central midfield: Ben Sheaf (Coventry) - 9.23 rating

Coventry extended their unbeaten streak to nine league matches with a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday with Ben Sheaf key. Sheaf netted his second and third league goals of the campaign at Hillsbrough, scoring with two of five shots. The 24-year-old drove forward from deep well as he completed four dribbles on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 9.23.

Central midfield: Flynn Downes (Southampton) - 8.20 rating

Southampton made it 21 games unbeaten in all competitions at Swansea's expense in Saturday's lunchtime kick off as the south coast side secured a 3-1 win in South Wales. Flynn Downes put in a solid shift in the middle of the park, netting Saints' third on the stroke of half time, and found a teammate with 94.4% of his 71 attempted passes.

Central midfield: Scott Twine (Bristol City) - 8.24 rating

Rounding off the midfield, Scott Twine impressed on his Bristol City debut, bagging the equaliser against Watford in the eventual 1-1 draw. Twine found the back of the net with one of two shots and was unfortunate not to add an assist having made seven key passes in the stalemate.

Striker: Ryan Hardie (Plymouth) - 9.64 rating

The EFL player of the week, Ryan Hardie was directly involved in all three goals as Plymouth beat Cardiff 3-1 at Home Park on Saturday. Hardie found a way past Jak Alnwick with two of six shots in the victory, and provided the assist Morgan Whittaker's 81st-minute strike to put the result beyond doubt, that coming from one of four key passes, as the 26-year-old returned a WhoScored.com rating of 9.64.

Striker: Kyle Joseph (Blackpool) - 9.08 rating

With a WhoScored.com rating of 9.08, Blackpool striker Kyle Joseph is good value for his inclusion in the EFL team of the week. Blackpool earned a third win on the spin with a 2-1 victory at Bristol Rovers with the young Scot directly involved in both of the Tangerines' goals. Indeed, Joseph registered his third and fourth assist of the season, those coming from five key passes, while seven aerial duels won, five tackles and three clearances marked the 22-year-old's best rated performance of the season.

Striker: Che Adams (Southampton) - 8.24 rating

Rounding off the XI is the second Southampton representative in the side. Che Adams scored his fifth goal from his last six outings in a player of the match performance against Swansea, getting the better of Carl Rushworth with one of three shots. The Scotland international was unfortunate not to add an assist having made four key passes to nail down his spot in the side with a WhoScored.com rating of 8.24.
