Daniel James may have been Leeds' match winner against Stoke in midweek but it was Ethan Ampadu who claimed the WhoScored.com player of the match award. Indeed, the Welshman stood firm, making seven clearances and three interceptions, and found a teammate with 93.2% of his 74 attempted passes.

4. Sam Field (QPR) - 8.27 rating

QPR extended their unbeaten run to four matches as they drew 2-2 with West Brom on home turf on Wednesday night. Sam Field shone in the stalemate, scoring both goals for his side from two of five shots. Field also chipped in with three tackles to help return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.27.

3. Abdulkadir Omur (Hull) - 8.36 rating

Abdulkadir Omur may have failed to directly contribute to a goal in Hull's 1-1 draw with Birmingham but it wasn't for want of trying as the Turkish winger managed three key passes and two shots. Omur was excellent both on and off the ball as he completed two dribbles and made eight tackles.

2. Leif Davis (Ipswich) - 8.92 rating

Ipswich ended the midweek games just three points off league leaders Leicester and they have Leif Davis to thank for the 3-2 victory over Bristol City. Davis was directly involved in all three Ipswich goals as he followed up his brace of second half assists with his first league goal of the season in the 89th minute to secure all the spoils. Those came from respective returns of three key passes and two shots.

1. Ellis Simms (Coventry) - 9.39 rating

Coventry piled further misery upon this downtrodden Rotherham side as they romped to a 5-0 win on Tuesday night with Ellis Simms shining once more. Indeed, Simms bagged a first half hat-trick from three of four shots and won two aerial duels on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 9.39.
