Goalkeeper: Michael Kelly (MK Dons) - 8.43 rating

MK Dons sprung an upset as they beat League Two leaders Mansfield 2-1 in midweek with Michael Kelly a solid last line of defence. The 27-year-old made seven saves in total, including a first half penalty stop, to return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.43.

Right-back: Tennai Watson (Charlton) - 8.05 rating

Charlton extended their unbeaten run with a fine 3-1 win at Cheltenham on Tuesday night with Tennai Watson key. Indeed, Watson provided the assist for Daniel Kanu's opener at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium, that coming from one of four key passes, while the Addicks star also won six aerial duels in a solid showing.

Centre-back: Ethan Ampadu (Leeds) - 8.19 rating

Daniel James may have been Leeds' match winner against Stoke in midweek but it was Ethan Ampadu who claimed the WhoScored.com player of the match award. The Welshman stood firm, making seven clearances and three interceptions, and found a teammate with 93.2% of his 74 attempted passes.

Centre-back: James Chester (Barrow) - 7.87 rating

Partnering Ampadu in defence is Barrow centre-back James Chester, who netted his second league goal of the season in their 2-0 win over Gillingham. The Welshman also made six clearances in a clean-sheet attaining display.

Left-back: Leif Davis (Ipswich) - 8.92 rating

Ipswich ended the midweek games just three points off league leaders Leicester and they have Leif Davis to thank for the 3-2 victory over Bristol City. Davis was directly involved in all three Ipswich goals as he followed up his brace of second half assists with his first league goal of the season in the 89th minute to secure all the spoils. Those came from respective returns of three key passes and two shots.

Right midfield: Kwame Poku (Peterborough) - 8.38 rating

Kwame Poku reached double figures for goals in League One this season in a player of the match performance against Northampton in midweek. Poku struck with one of two shots midway through the first half as Peterborough earned a 5-1 win on home turf.

Central midfield: Alex Gilbey (MK Dons) - 8.54 rating

Alex Gilbey put in his best rated performance of the season in MK Dons' 2-1 win at Mansfield with the 29-year-old directly involved in both goals at the One Call Stadium. Gilbey scored his side's opening goal midway through the first half and provided the assist Matthew Dennis' winning strike in the 54th minute from respective returns of five shots and two key passes.

Central midfield: Sam Field (QPR) - 8.27 rating

QPR extended their unbeaten run to four matches as they drew 2-2 with West Brom on home turf on Wednesday night. Sam Field shone in the stalemate, scoring both goals for his side from two of five shots. Field also chipped in with three tackles to help return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.27.

Left midfield: Anis Mehmeti (Bristol City) - 8.10 rating

While he ended up on the losing side at Portman Road, Anis Mehmeti put in a fine shift for Bristol City and Ipswich in midweek, as evidenced by a WhoScored.com rating of 8.10. Mehmeti scored the opening goal on Tuesday night, that coming from one of two shots, while four dribbles and three tackles saw the 23-year-old impress despite defeat.

Striker: Ellis Simms (Coventry) - 9.39 rating

Coventry piled further misery upon this downtrodden Rotherham side as they romped to a 5-0 win on Tuesday night with Ellis Simms shining once more. Indeed, Simms bagged a first half hat-trick from three of four shots and won two aerial duels on his way to a WhoScored.com rating of 9.39.

Striker: Famara Diedhiou (Cardiff) - 8.11 rating

Joining Simms on the frontline is Cardiff striker Famara Diedhiou, who picked the perfect time to score his first goal for the Bluebirds. Diedhiou's 30th minute strike proved enough to beat Huddersfield at the Cardiff City Stadium, that coming from one of two shots, while nine aerial wins helped the striker to a WhoScored.com rating of 8.11.
