Late drama sees Leeds United claim Championship top spot

Wilfried Gnonto scored a stoppage-time winner to lift Leeds United to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, as they overcame Swansea City in a seven-goal thriller.

Daniel Farke's Leeds had fallen behind twice before claiming a 73rd-minute lead, and while Florian Bianchini looked to have rescued a point for the hosts in the dying moments, Gnonto was on hand to clinch a dramatic victory.

It took the hosts just eight minutes to break the deadlock when Harry Darling guided the ball on the volley past Illan Meslier from close range.

Former Swansea winger Dan James was a constant threat on the right flank, and it was his delivery that set up Tottenham Hotspur loanee Manor Solomon to score his first goal for the Club.

On the stroke of half-time, the Swans restored their lead through Liam Cullen, whose deflected effort found the bottom corner.

But the visitors responded well after the restart, with James again the creator, whipping a low cross into the path of Joël Piroe, only for defender Ben Cabango to divert the ball into his own net after a desperate sliding attempt to make an interception.

Farke's side then went in front for the first time when Sam Byram beat the offside trap before playing a square pass to Solomon to slot home his second of the match.

Swansea applied some late pressure in a bid to salvage a point, and thought they'd managed just that when Bianchini converted Josh Tymon's delivery with 90 minutes on the clock.

However, Leeds were not to be denied as Gnonto held his nerve after being played through by James for the Welshman's third assist, meaning the Whites climb above Sunderland to top the table on goal difference for the first time this season.
