CBS Sports and Cosm have announced that select English Football League (EFL) matches will be presented in shared reality at Cosm’s immersive entertainment venues in Los Angeles and Dallas.

In a first for the EFL, the partnership will see a minimum of six Sky Bet EFL matches broadcast, commencing December 3, with a further additional EFL match at Cosm to be announced at a later date.

Cosm is the new and innovative experience, broadcasting and replicating live sports events within a theatre, cinema or auditorium environment on a 180-degree, domed screen.

The immersive-experience technology simulates the experience of audiences attending the stadium ground, when they are simply in a specially built auditorium.

Confirmed matches include:

Wrexham v Barnsley – Tuesday 3 December, 2.45pm (ET)
Sheffield United v Burnley – Thursday 26 December, 10.00am (ET)
Wrexham v Birmingham City – Thursday 23 January, 3.00pm (ET)
Coventry City v Leeds United – Saturday 8 February, 10.00am (ET)
Huddersfield Town v Wrexham – Tuesday 4 March, 7.45pm (ET)*

* Match start time is subject to moving for broadcast, as part of domestic TV selections made beyond the end of February

The arrangement has been made possible by CBS – the international broadcast partner for EFL competition matches in the United States from the start of the 2024/25 season – partnering with Cosm.

Cosm install several discreet 8K cameras around a match stadium to capture all angles, with no interruption to the regular production output. This is then “stitched” together to create the unique wide-angle effect that recreates being in the ground itself.

The two custom-built Cosm centres are now active in showing sports events, following partnerships with CBS, Fox Sports, ESPN and other US rights holders to deliver a variety of sports events including NFL and NBA.

Already this season, EFL fans in the USA are enjoying a far greater level of coverage than ever before with matches delivered on CBS Sports Network, Golazzo Network, and Paramount+.

Cosm is the latest innovation enabling the League to continue to grow its exposure and presence in the USA, supported by Relevent Sports, in promoting the EFL and the CBS coverage.
