Cast your vote for September's Sky Bet Goal of the Month

The September nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month Award are:

Barry Bannan – SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v Queens Park Rangers – 14th September

Most players would have seen a ball bouncing up off the ground and thought it too high to control their shot. Not Bannan. Trusting his technique, he caught it perfectly on the swivel.

Chris Rigg – SUNDERLAND v Middlesbrough – 21st September

Call it the impudence of youth or instinctive genius, the clarity of thought Rigg showed as the angle tightened against him to chop a backheel over the line took the collective breath away.

Gustavo Hamer – SHEFFIELD UNITED v Derby County – 21st September

From an angle that suits a left-footer, Hamer employed the element of surprise to whip in a right-footed free-kick of such pinpoint accuracy, it flicked the inside of the post on its way in.

Hayden Hackney – MIDDLESBROUGH v Stoke City – 28th September

Accelerating onto a ball that his team’s pressing had won back, Hackney seized the moment to drive forward, step inside a challenge and find the top corner perfectly with a fierce shot.

The September nominations for the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month Award are:

Chuks Aneke –– CHARLTON ATHLETIC v Rotherham United – 7th September

With his side pressing for an equaliser, substitute Aneke slowed everything down as the ball came to him, calmly controlling it before curling home with power and impeccable placement.

Lee Gregory – MANSFIELD TOWN v Cambridge United – 14th September

Playing a one-two on his way into the Cambridge area, Gregory was already eyeing his target. The return ball meant he had to re-adjust his body, yet he still scooped in a perfect lob.

Ed Francis – Blackpool v EXETER CITY – 14th September

Five yards in from the by-line gave Francis the tiniest of margins for error with his left-footed free-kick. He didn’t need even that, whipping it effortlessly over everyone into the far corner.

Rob Apter – BLACKPOOL v Burton Albion – 28th September

Apter was balance personified as he slalomed his way at pace towards the Burton goal. He rode three challenges and traced a compelling line before side-footing home with precision.

The September nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award are:

David McGoldrick – NOTTS COUNTY v Accrington Stanley – 7th September

After over 150 goals, McGoldrick has the confidence and experience to size up play in an instant. There was no hurry, just precise execution as he curled his shot into the top corner.

Gerard Garner – BARROW v Swindon Town – 7th September

As he chased a ball into the channel, Garner could see Swindon keeper Jack Bycroft coming towards him. He knew that the lob was on and pulled it off to perfection with a delightful chip.

Charles Vernam – Chesterfield v GRIMSBY TOWN – 7th September

August’s winner was at it again in September. Vernam took the direct route to goal after collecting the ball in midfield, picking the right moment to unleash his shot into the top corner.

Cameron Evans – NEWPORT COUNTY v Crewe Alexandra – 28th September

Evans finished off a flowing Newport move in style. The ball was shifted quickly from the left wing and diagonally across the pitch before Evans angled in an unstoppable rising piledriver.
