Norwich and Middlesbrough produce a Sky Bet Championship classic

Norwich City and Middlesbrough played out a breathtaking contest at Carrow Road, with the Canaries erasing a two-goal deficit to claim a share of the spoils and extend their unbeaten home record to 21 matches.

It was a game that had everything, with six goals, a missed penalty and a sending off, and while Tommy Conway scored twice for Boro, it was Borja Sainz who was undoubtedly the star of the show, bagging a spectacular brace to take his tally to 10 league goals for the season.

The Spaniard took centre stage inside the opening 10 minutes when he rifled a sublime effort from outside the area into the top corner.

However, the hosts were quickly pegged back when Neto Borges' cross to the far post was volleyed home by Conway.

Following chances at both ends, it was the visitors who edged in front five minutes before the break. After clearing a Norwich corner, Ben Doak carried the ball forward magnificently before feeding in Anfernee Dijksteel, who unselfishly played a square pass for Conway to convert.

And things got even better for Michael Carrick's side as they doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, with Doak teeing up Finn Azaz for his first goal of the campaign.

Just after the hour mark, Boro had the chance to move out of sight when Riley McGree was brought down in the box by José Córdoba. Conway stepped up in search of a hat-trick, but his spot-kick was saved by Norwich keeper George Long.

He was punished for that miss just moments later as Sainz produced another moment of magic, cutting in from the left and bending a terrific strike beyond the outstretched Sent Dieng.

Protecting an unbeaten home record that stretches back to November last year, the Canaries restored parity with 10 minutes remaining through an unexpected source, as right-back Kellen Fisher's goalbound cross towards the near post was diverted into the net off the foot of Dieng.

There was still time for more drama, with Norwich captain Kenny McLean receiving a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Hayden Hackney before the game finally came to its conclusion all square, leaving the teams sitting in eighth and ninth in the table on 18 points.
