Vote for Sky Bet Goal of the Month winners for August

The August nominations for the Sky Bet Goal of the Month winners have been revealed.

Check out the goals below and vote for your winners - voting closes at 5pm on Monday 16 September.

Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month nominees:

Vakoun Bayo – WATFORD v Derby County – 24th August

Bayo watched intently as Mattie Pollock’s flighted diagonal ball came towards him. He adjusted his feet and body position, then lay back and executed a perfect scissor-kick volley.

Mark Harris – Blackburn Rovers v OXFORD UNITED – 24th August

When Matt Phillips chested down a long clearance into Harris’ path 30 yards out, he surely wasn’t expecting his striker to unleash a dipping volley of such accuracy and raw ferocity.

George Tanner – BRISTOL CITY v Coventry City – 24th August

The danger appeared to have passed when Coventry cleared a corner. Tanner had other ideas, sprinting towards the dropping ball and meeting it with impeccable timing on his instep.

Andreas Weimann – Burnley v BLACKBURN ROVERS – 31st August

What an impact for your new club at the home of their fiercest rivals. Weimann matched the occasion with the majesty of his 25-yard strike, spearing the ball at pace into the far corner.

Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month nominees:

Jack Marriott – WREXHAM v Wycombe Wanderers – 10th August

Two sublime flicked volleys were combined as Ollie Palmer deftly back-heeled the ball to Marriott who followed his chest control with an instant strike off the outside of his right foot.

Louie Barry – STOCKPORT COUNTY v Cambridge United – 10th August

Quite a way to start the season. Five minutes into County’s opening game, Barry showcased his vision and skill to loop his shot high into the air and under the bar in a perfectly traced arc.

Kamari Doyle – Bolton Wanderers v EXETER CITY – 31st August

Doyle took his free-kick from side-on, allowing him to impart even more spin on the ball and whipping it beyond the reach of Bolton’s Nathan Baxter to mark his full League One debut.

Tom Bloxham – SHREWSBURY TOWN v Leyton Orient – 31st August

Some shots are simply unsavable. That was the case when Bloxham turned his man on the edge of the Orient edge and uncorked a piledriver inside the precise angle of post and bar.

Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month nominees:

Will Wright – Chesterfield v SWINDON TOWN – 9th August

Wright is a central defender, yet here he was collecting the ball in his own half, showing neat footwork to beat a man, then surging forward into space and unleashing a fierce, rising drive.

Jordan Gibson – DONCASTER ROVERS v Accrington Stanley – 10th August

A clever feint fooled an Accrington player and gave Gibson space into which he could run. Opening up his body as he moved forward, he then curled a delightful shot inside the post.

Charles Vernam – GRIMSBY TOWN v Cheltenham Town – 17th August

A quick Grimsby counter-attack gave Vernam a one-on-one outside the Cheltenham area. He took full advantage, jinking inside before letting fly with a searing shot that bent into the net.

James Berry – Crewe Alexandra v CHESTERFIELD – 17th August

Berry is making up for lost time in his first full season in the EFL. He didn’t hesitate as the ball rolled towards him, whipping it instantly with a precise arcing trajectory into the far top corner.
