Beyond the weekly sessions held at Tranmere Rovers’ first team training ground, The Campus, Sid and the group harness the community through running a host of events and schemes, as well as fundraisers to support local charities.

Adam added: “As well as holding regular events to raise money for The Martin Gallier Project, we run a buddy scheme for people who are worried about going to the football, whether that be inclusivity or anxiety induced.

“We compete in football tournaments too, and this provides opportunities for people who otherwise wouldn’t have travelled around the UK to play. I personally would have never experienced playing in different cities hadn’t I joined this group.”

The EFL and PUMA’s Rainbow ball campaign, which will conclude during Leeds United’s Monday night clash against Sunderland, has seen all 72 EFL Clubs play with the match ball since its launch on the 6 February.

Emblematic of the Leagues’ stand against homophobia, members of Rover and Out believed the campaign to be a promising stepping stone in enacting the social change needed to achieve a truly inclusive environment for all football fans.

“I love the fact Clubs are saying ‘we are here to support you, and we want you to feel comfortable’ through campaigns like Rainbow ball,” said Adam. “It makes going to the football less scary for a lot of people. I have a friend, for example, who is part of this group, and she struggles to go to games at times because she feels she’s not welcome, but this sort of campaign really does make her feel like they want the community there.”
