Joined by a mix of stakeholders including local politicians, sponsors, volunteers, and members of both the Proud Hornets and Proud Watford, Herts Pride and Watford FC hosted an evening of talks and entertainment on account of the prospective plans cemented for this year’s celebrations.

Included in the evening’s agenda was the pressing topic of this year’s theme, as chosen by Herts Pride, which was revealed to be #connections, ‘reminding us that every generation and identity has something valuable to offer’.

Clive said: “For the LGBTQ+ community, allies are equally as important, if not more, in bringing about change. Our focus is to connect with the locals as well as businesses, and we share with them our vision for now and for the future. We want to communicate the message that we’re inclusive as we also hope everyone else is.”

The buffet, which was kindly provided by the Football Club, was also a particular crowd-pleaser on the night. However, all eyes were on the newly appointed ambassadors who recently joined the fast-expanding Herts Pride family, signifying just how swiftly the organisation and their annual event has grown in size and popularity.

“We presented our Ambassador Awards, where we passed on ambassadorial responsibilities to three new members, meaning they’ve signed their life away to us,” joked Clive.

“We also had entertainment provided by a wonderful drag artist from Brighton, and we ran a raffle. We even had sponsors travelling in from all over the country so it was great to have everyone in one place, and the entire evening was testament to how far we’ve come since its inception.”
