Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month Award

Barry Bannan – Derby County v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY – 1 December

Quite a way to celebrate your 35th birthday. Bannan’s driven lob over the head of Derby defenders and goalkeeper Jacob Zetterstrom was both audacious and brilliantly executed.

Zian Flemming – Norwich City v BURNLEY – 15 December

As the Norwich players backed off a free-kick expecting a clipped ball into the box, Flemming saw his chance to outwit them and sent a 35-yard piledriver over them and into the top corner.

Przemyslaw Placheta – OXFORD UNITED v Cardiff City – 26 December

Cutting inside from the right, Placheta headed away from goal for a moment before jagging back and whipping home a piercing 30-yard left-foot shot that combined pace and precision.

Brenden Aaronson – Derby County v LEEDS UNITED – 29 December

Aaronson was the pivot around which Leeds constructed the sweetest of team goals in a mazy pattern. Involved at the start, he then left it to four teammates to play him in for the final touch.

Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month

Lewis Wing – READING v Cambridge United – 3 December

Already a winner this season for his stunner at Crawley in October, Wing’s latest gem took the same route to goal, clipped first time with a stunning simplicity and arcing into the top corner.

Millenic Alli – Burton Albion v EXETER CITY – 21 December

As a pass found him on the far edge of the Burton area, Alli could see what he wanted to do, which was to cut inside and place a searing shot perfectly under the junction of post and bar.

Paul Mullin – WREXHAM v Blackpool – 26 December

The mist encircling the Racecourse Ground couldn’t hide the audacity of Mullin’s thought process nor the majesty of his dipping volley after first cushioning the ball expertly on his thigh.

Miles Leaburn –– CHARLTON ATHLETIC v Wycombe Wanderers – 29 December

A goal of two halves. Firstly, intricate Charlton inter-passing sets Leaburn free. Then, the striker’s clarity to arc a lob perfectly over Wycombe keeper Franco Ravizzoli and under the bar.

Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award

James Daly – Tranmere Rovers v HARROGATE TOWN – 14 December

Daly adjusted his feet as he read the play at a free-kick, dropping back to control the ball on his chest before sweeping a lob off the outside of his left boot and dipping it adroitly under the bar.

Luke Young – Gillingham v CHELTENHAM TOWN – 20 December

Young’s free-kick was only on target for the final moments of its flight as he curled it in with pace from out wide, making it unstoppable and finding the net off the underside of the bar.

Andy Cook – BRADFORD CITY v Port Vale – 26 December

See it, hit it. The most stunning goals can often be the simplest, although there was nothing simple about Cook’s technique as he caught his shot perfectly on his instep from 25 yards.

George Abbott – Cheltenham Town v NOTTS COUNTY – 29 December

In a madcap match of eight goals, Abbott’s strike stood out for the sweet timing of his shot as he sprinted forward and met the ball on the half-volley, arrowing it into the far top corner.
