Everything you need to know about the summer transfer window

Now the season is over, attention has turned to the transfer window, which, unlike previous seasons, will be split into two parts to accommodate the 2025 Club World Cup.

Below, we've answered all the important questions regarding this summer's window.

When does the summer transfer window open?

The window will open early between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 10, due to an 'exceptional registration period' for the Club World Cup.

Clubs in the EFL will also be free to do business during this short period.

The window will then close, before re-opening between Monday, June 16 and Monday, September 1.

This is due to the transfer window being unable to exceed a total of 89 days, with these changes in alignment with the Premier League, which will also operate with the same windows.

What time does the transfer window shut?

The summer transfer window will close at 7 pm on both Tuesday, June 10 and Monday, September 1.

Why is the window split?

It was announced in October that FIFA had approved a proposal for an additional exceptional registration period between June 1 and June 10.

This was so that teams participating in the Club World Cup could sign players ahead of competing in the tournament.
