Sky Bet Goal of the Month: April winners

The March winners of the Sky Bet Goal of the Month Award are:

Sky Bet Championship

Eliezer Mayenda – Bristol City v SUNDERLAND – 18 April

Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda is the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month winner for April.

Mayenda collected the ball just outside the Sunderland area and set off. Skipping between two initial challenges, he kept the ball tied to his boot before finally sliding it into the bottom corner.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: "To say Eliezer Mayenda still had everything to do when he collected the ball would be an understatement!

“He picked up a loose ball right on the edge of his own box, before skipping past the entire Bristol defence and keeping his composure to slot past the keeper, brilliant effort!"

Mayenda beat off competition from Swansea City’s Josh Key, Coventry City’s Jamie Paterson and Oxford United’s Cameron Brannagan.

Sky Bet League One

Reece Cole – Bristol Rovers v EXETER CITY – 12 April

Exeter City midfielder Reece Cole is the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month winner for April.

Cole started the move that led to his deliciously controlled volley, setting the attack in motion, then cleverly dropping back into a pocket of space from which to sweetly sweep the ball home.

Cole said: “I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for my goal - I am absolutely delighted to win it. It was probably one of my best strikes, and I’d like to thank Jack McMillan for putting it at my knee; otherwise, it probably wouldn’t have been the goal that it was.”

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: "Reece Cole’s strike against Bristol Rovers was an absolute beauty. The cross was fired at him at an awkward height, but he got over the volley brilliantly and guided the ball into the top corner. No keeper in the world would have had a chance with this one, what a finish!"

Cole beat off competition from Leyton Orient’s Charlie Kelman, Reading’s Lewis Wing and Lincoln City’s Reeco Hackett.

Sky Bet League Two

Kieran Green – Harrogate Town v GRIMSBY TOWN – 12 April

Grimsby Town midfielder Kieran Green is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for April.

Having collected the ball on the turn, Green was still short of the centre circle in the Grimsby half when he struck his unerring 60-yard lob so sweetly that it dipped at just the right moment.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: "Lobs from inside your own half are always impressive, but Kieran Green’s had to be absolutely inch-perfect to beat the Harrogate keeper. He took the shot a good 60 yards from goal and it stayed true all the way, dipping just under the crossbar at the perfect moment."

Green beat off competition from Newport County’s Bobby Kamwa, Tranmere Rovers’ Omari Patrick and Harrogate Town’s Josh March.
