Both Bradford City and Blackpool confirmed their progression to the Vertu Trophy knockout stages after victories on Tuesday night.

The Bantams convincingly defeated Everton U21 by five goals to one to ensure they hit top spot in Group C North with one fixture to play.

Goals from Calum Kavanagh, George Lapslie, Alex Pattison and a brace from Stephen Humphrys saw City, who have made the Semi-Final of this competition for the last two seasons running, comfortably through.

The result also confirms fellow Yorskshire side Doncaster Rovers' place in the next round.

Blackpool secured their spot in the knockout rounds after a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest U21 at Bloomfield Road.

Emil Hansson's early goal for the hosts was cancelled out by Kalum Thompson just before the break, but the game was won by a moment of brilliance by former Forest man Josh Bowler as he danced around the defence to slot home and send the Seasiders top of Group B North.

That victory sees Tranmere Rovers progress from the Group as they sit four points clear of Forest U21 with one fixture remaining.

In tonight's other fixture, Crewe Alexandra followed up their impressive 7-1 win in their opening fixture against Chesterfield with a 2-0 win over Liverpool U21.

Stoke City loanee Emre Tezgel took his Vertu Trophy goals tally to four with the opening goal from the spot, before a composed finish from Dion Rankine maintained the Railwaymen's 100% start in this season's competition.
