This week, the Preston North End Community and Education Trust welcomed more than 100 members of the local Hindu and Sikh community to Deepdale for a vibrant Diwali event.

Families gathered to enjoy a stadium tour, a children’s game show and an insightful exploration of Diwali’s history and meaning - all through the common bond of football.

Two of the Cub’s Academy scholars, Li‑Bau Stowell and Shay Reid, joined the celebrations and added extra sparkle to the evening.

They took part in a Q&A session, talked about life as academy footballers, helped judge the game show, and posed for photos with participants before joining the tour of the ground.

The event formed part of PNECET’s ongoing work to use the power of football and the club’s platform to celebrate culture and promote cohesive communities.

As Rebecca Robertson, Head of Community Engagement at PNECET, said: “It was fantastic to welcome so many families from the local Hindu and Sikh community in Preston to Deepdale for our Diwali celebration.

“Events like this are a great example of how football can bring people together, helping us to celebrate cultural diversity, strengthen community bonds, and create shared experiences in an inclusive environment.
