Liverpool are winless in each of their last three home games against Crystal Palace (D2 L1), last going four without victory against a non-“big 6” side at Anfield between 2012 and 2014 vs Aston Villa (D2 L2).
This will be the fifth League Cup meeting between Crystal Palace and Liverpool, with both sides progressing from two each of the previous four – the most recent came in Round Three in 2005-06, with the then Championship Eagles winning 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool have progressed from 12 of their last 14 League Cup ties against Premier League opposition, with the exceptions coming against Manchester City in Round Four in 2022-23, and against Newcastle in last season’s final. Including this one, 10 of the Reds’ last 11 ties in the competition have been against a top-flight side.
Crystal Palace have been eliminated from six of their last eight Round Four ties in the League Cup, though they did beat Aston Villa 2-1 at this stage last season – the Eagles have only made the quarter-final stage in back-to-back campaigns in 1991-92/1992-93.
Liverpool’s Alexander Isak has scored in four of his last six League Cup appearances, the most different games a player has scored in since the start of last season in the competition. That run started with a Round Four goal against Chelsea in 2024-25.
