This week’s WhoScored Team of the Week features a mix of gamechangers and defensive stalwarts who dominated their respective matches.

Coventry’s Haji Wright stole the spotlight with his stunning hat-trick, whilst Blackburn’s midfield pair impressed as well. Here are WhoScored’s top five performers from this week:

Haji Wright (Coventry, 9.5)

Coventry City talisman Haji Wright earned the highest player rating this week after his stunning hat-trick against Middlesbrough.

Wright delivered in this top-of-the-table clash and could have even added a fourth, if not for his second-minute header that crashed against the post. He scored three goals from an xG of just 1.46, underlining his ruthless finishing.

What made the performance even more remarkable was Wright’s limited involvement outside the box. He attempted just eight passes all game, yet still proved decisive.

The American forward also contested nine duels, winning five, and played a key role in firing Coventry to the top of the table.

Wright also closed the gap in the Golden Boot race from five goals to two as he continues his chase of Swansea’s Zan Vipotnik, who remains the leader with 15 goals.

This is not Wright’s first entry in WhoScored’s Team of the Week this season, having previously featured after his brace in Coventry’s 7-1 demolition of QPR earlier in the campaign.

Michael Cooper (Sheffield United, 8.9)

Sheffield United goalkeeper Michael Cooper earned an 8.9 rating for his heroics at Fratton Park in their 1-0 win over Portsmouth. The 26-year-old produced seven saves in the match, with every stop coming from inside the box, and he prevented an xGOT of 2.42 to keep the hosts at bay.

Cooper also commanded his area with authority, making four punches and completing two of his three run-outs. He backed up his shot-stopping with five clearances and 14 recoveries, sealing his eighth clean sheet of the season in the process.

This was Cooper’s highest rating of the campaign and the second-highest WhoScored rating of his career. His best came during his time at Plymouth, when he registered a 9.04 rating against Cheltenham.

Ryoya Morishita (Blackburn, 8.7)

Ryoya Morishita is in scintillating form, earning the highest ratings of his career this month. He capped off his performance against Sheffield Wednesday with a goal and an assist in Blackburn’s 3-1 away win over QPR to record his career-best rating.

Morishita set up Jorgensen’s opener in the first half before scoring a crucial third goal early in the second half, effectively ending any hopes of a QPR comeback.

He managed two shots, one key pass for his assist, won 100% of his aerial duels, maintained a perfect tackle success rate, and made two interceptions to help Blackburn secure a hard-fought three points at Loftus Road.

Sondre Tronstad (Blackburn, 8.5)

Morishita’s teammate Sondre Tronstad was equally influential, orchestrating the other two goals for Jorgenson and Morishita. Tronstad led Blackburn in key passes with two and maintained an 82% passing accuracy.

His defensive work was outstanding, contributing 13 defensive actions, including seven clearances and five tackles (the second-highest in the match), showing his ability to dominate both ends of the pitch.

The double assists were also Tronstad’s first goal contributions of the season, and his first entry in WhoScored’s Team of the Week this season.

Callum Elder (Derby, 8.3)

Derby left-back Callum Elder was on another level in their match against Swansea City at Pride Park Stadium.

The Australian provided the assist for Patrick Agyemang’s goal, doubling Derby’s lead and helping the team secure their eighth clean sheet of the season.

Elder produced a game-high three key passes and made nine defensive contributions, including five tackles, three clearances, and an interception, showcasing his quality at both ends of the pitch. #

The left-back now has one goal and six assists for the season, impressive numbers for a player in his position.

This performance earned Elder his highest rating of the season and his third-best WhoScored rating of his career. It also marks his first appearance in the Team of the Week this season.
