Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford has been named the Carabao Cup Player of the Round for the Semi-Finals.

Trafford put in two phenomenal performances as his side saw off holders Newcastle United over two legs.

In a 2-0 victory in the first-leg at St James' Park, Trafford pulled off one of the saves of the season, tipping Yoane Wissa's looping header onto the crossbar when it looked set to ripple the net.

The Cumbrian was at it again when the two met at the Etihad, pulling off two brave stops to deny Joe Willock and Anthony Gordon as the visitors looked to find a way back into the tie.

Trafford's performances helped City reach their 10th Carabao Cup Final, in which they'll face Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

“It’s great to be named Carabao Cup Player of the Round. Individual awards are always nice, but they come from the work of the whole team — the lads in front of me were brilliant throughout both games and made my job a lot easier." said Trafford.

"We now focus on the Final in a few weeks’ time. We’re all looking forward to the opportunity to go to Wembley and to try to win the trophy together.”
