Birmingham City earned a valuable point on the road as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Swansea City at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The hosts looked set to continue their impressive home form when Zan Vipotnik steered in a cushioned first‑half volley from Gonçalo Franco’s driven cross, giving Swansea the platform to push for what would have been a fifth straight Championship home victory.

Vitor Matos’ side went on to strike the woodwork three times, with Franco, Ronald and substitute Liam Cullen all denied by the frame of the goal, but their inability to find a second proved costly.

Birmingham took full advantage midway through the second half. Kai Wagner’s cross was flicked on by Marvin Ducksch, allowing Patrick Roberts to shift into space and crash a rising effort in off the underside of the bar to level the contest.

The Blues had earlier threatened through Roberts, Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi, while at the other end goalkeeper James Beadle produced a superb fingertip stop to divert Franco’s curling strike onto the bar.

Substitute Jay Stansfield was inches from completing the turnaround but was denied by a brilliant last‑ditch challenge from Jay Fulton, before Cullen’s late header clipped the top of the bar in stoppage time as Swansea pushed for a winner.

The result extends Birmingham’s run without an away league win to eight matches, though this hard‑earned point offers encouragement after a difficult spell on their travels. Swansea climb to 16th despite being held for the first time in 11 league games under Matos, while the Blues sit two points better off in 14th.
