The weekend's Sky Bet League Two action kicked off with a Friday night meeting between Colchester United and Crawley Town at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Colchester United were left frustrated under the lights as a stubborn Crawley side held firm to claim a valuable point in their fight for survival.

On a night short of clear‑cut chances, Danny Cowley’s side pushed and probed but couldn’t find the breakthrough that might have nudged them closer to the Play‑Off places. Instead, the U’s climbed only to 10th—three points shy of the top seven—as Crawley battled to put space between themselves and the relegation zone.

The hosts almost took a first-half lead when Crawley's Scott Malone turned a cross towards his own net and forced an excellent save from his goalkeeper Jacob Chapman.

Both sides lacked a real creative spark, but it was the visitors who perhaps will be rueing their missed chances, twice denied by Colchester goalkeeper Matt Macey as the game neared its end.

Macey first got down smartly to divert Dion Pereira's header away from goal, before later pushing away Ronan Darcy's effort at his near post.

The game ended goalless and leaves both sides eagerly awaiting this weekend's results to see their impact on both ends of the table.
