Collins nets four in MK Dons masterclass

Aaron Collins (MK DONS v Doncaster Rovers, October 31)

Collins had already scored four goals and contributed two assists in October.

He doubled that goal tally in one afternoon against Doncaster, displaying all of his elegant movement and silky smooth control in MK’s 6-1 win.

Having stroked a low shot into the bottom corner for his first, he added a second with smart footwork to slip the ball past Doncaster keeper Tommy Simkin.

His hat-trick came from a shot after cutting inside from the right before he calmly switched back onto his left foot to become the first MK Dons player in five seasons to score four goals in a single match

Veteran Henderson rescues a point for Rochdale

Ian Henderson (ROCHDALE v Grimsby Town – October 24)

Rochdale’s record goalscorer may be 41, but he can still find the net when it matters.

Henderson’s age has now surpassed his squad number of 40. He had played just eight minutes of League Two football this season when he was thrown on in the 81^st minute with Dale trailing 2-1 to Grimsby.

Seven minutes later, he met a cross on the volley and, as the ball came back to him, calmly nodded home the equaliser.

Having made his EFL debut for Norwich City as a 17-year-old in October 2002, Henderson has recently become Dale's all-time appearance holder with 532.

Kone hits 15-minute treble for QPR

Richard Kone (QUEENS PARK RANGERS v Swansea City – October 24)

Without a goal in seven appearances for Queens Park Rangers this season, Kone was beginning to feel like the odd man out in their impressive autumn.

So what did the striker do when Championship leaders Swansea City arrived at Loftus Road having conceded just eight goals in 11 matches?

He scored a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes, of course.

Kone began by rolling home Paul Smyth’s low cross after two minutes, glanced home a graceful header seven minutes later and sealed his treble from the penalty spot on the quarter-hour as QPR went on to win 5-0.

Scully’s dream debut kick-starts Exeter’s season

Anthony Scully (EXETER CITY v Rotherham United – October 3)

Having only been announced as a new signing by Exeter on the morning of their game against Rotherham, Scully scored the winner for his new club just hours later.

If that sounds easy, it was anything but for both player and club.

Scully made his name at Lincoln, but has struggled mightily with injuries over the past four seasons.

Released by Shrewsbury in June, he kept himself fit at the PFA’s summer training camp for unattached players.

When Exeter signed him, Matt Taylor’s side hadn’t scored a league goal in four games.

His scrambled finish against Rotherham was perfect synchronicity.
