The Sky Bet Championship September Player of the Month nominees are:

Oladapo Afolayan (Blackburn Rovers) – attacking midfielder

Afolayan is thriving under new Rovers manager Tony Mowbray.

His intelligent, direct running across the attacking midfield line, willingness to take players on and to shoot with either foot brought him three goals and an assist in five games.

Rio Cardines (Bristol City) – full-back/wing-back

Happy on both flanks and at full-back or wing-back, Cardines has made an immediate impact at Ashton Gate.

His superb deliveries into the area, whether from set pieces or open play, brought him assists in four of his five September games.

Lyndon Dykes (Millwall) – striker

Four goals and an assist for Dykes who has brought a physical presence to Millwall’s forward line with his heading ability and the strength to occupy defenders.

His long throws have also had an impact, leading to both goals against West Ham.

Konstantinos Mavropanos (West Ham United) – central defender

Mavropanos is showing leadership and presence in both boxes. His commanding aerial prowess helped West Ham’s defence keep two clean sheets.

More remarkable were his four goals in five games, including a headed equaliser at Millwall.
