Having joined Middlesbrough in the summer, Will Lankshear has quickly become a key asset, and his performances mean he has now been named the EA Sports FC EFL Young Player of the Month for September.

Lankshear began his career in the Academy at Tottenham Hotspur, where his prolific form at youth level saw him train regularly with the First Team and represent England across multiple age groups.

After making his first appearances in senior football, including a goal away at Galatasaray, he continued his development during loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Oxford United.

Having scored 12 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell with Oxford last season, Lankshear joined Middlesbrough in July 2026.

The 21-year-old has made an immediate impact following his move to Riverside, with six goals across his opening eight league appearances.

This included a brace on his Championship debut against Lincoln City as the forward quickly demonstrated the clinical edge that has seen him establish himself as one of the EFL's most exciting young talents.

“This Club has produced players that have gone on to do some amazing things, so it was an absolute no-brainer for me to come here. Middlesbrough is such a massive Club,” Lankshear said.

“The tactical demands and what the manager expects from you as a player is so high, and I really thrive in that sort of environment. The manager has been amazing; I feel like I’m just learning constantly.”

Speaking about his future ambitions, Lankshear said: “It’s just to score goals and help get this Club to the Premier League. I think that’s what we should all be aiming to do, and I’d love to be part of that journey”

“The Club really believe in me and when a place really believes in me, I feel really happy. I’ll do absolutely everything to continue scoring goals and help this team”
