Lucas Pires leads the combined EFL Team of the Week with a WhoScored rating of 9.13, built on two assists, three key passes and five tackles in Burnley's 4-0 win at Watford.

No player across the Championship, League One and League Two provided more assists this weekend, and Kelland Watts (8.84) is the only other player in the XI above 8.70.

The defensive numbers stand out as much as the goals. Jack Taylor's 20 clearances for Exeter were the most by any player in the three divisions, and Jamie Donley's five key passes were the third-highest total.

The eleven scored nine goals and supplied three assists between them, drawn from four Championship, four League One and three League Two sides, and ten of their teams won, five of them 1-0.

Pierce Charles (QPR) - 8.12

Charles made four saves, three of them inside the box, and the two that mattered most came in stoppage time.

He kept out Jarrod Bowen's penalty low to his left, then tipped Arne Engels' follow-up onto the crossbar to protect a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

He added three clearances, and the display followed four clean sheets and a penalty save for Northern Ireland over the international break. The point kept QPR fifth in the Championship.

James Bree (Southampton) - 8.32

Bree scored the only goal of the south coast derby and did the defending of a centre-half as well.

He finished Finn Azaz's 20th-minute pass at the far post from one of his two shots, then made 9 clearances, 2 tackles and 1 interception, and won 5 aerial duels and 7 duels overall.

Southampton played the entire second half with 10 men after Cameron Bragg's red card and still held on, which secured their first league win over Portsmouth in almost 22 years.

Kelland Watts (Cambridge) - 8.84

Watts won 11 duels, the joint-most in the XI alongside Taylor, and recorded 6 clearances, 3 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 blocks and 5 aerial wins in Cambridge's 1-0 victory over 10-man Blackpool.

His three shots are the most by any defender in the XI, including a low 20-yard effort that Bailey Peacock-Farrell turned wide before half-time.

Cambridge kept a clean sheet and Gassan Ahadme's deflected goal in the 82nd minute settled it, which leaves them fifth in League One.

Jack Taylor (Exeter) - 8.42

Taylor made 20 clearances, more than any player in the Championship, League One or League Two this weekend, and his 9 aerial duels won are the most in the XI.

He also won 11 duels overall and added an interception and a block in Exeter's 1-0 win at Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury created the better chances and had a George Lloyd goal ruled out for offside, while Exeter did not have a shot on target until Sonny Cox scored in the 86th minute.

Taylor, on loan from Stevenage since September, helped Exeter collect their first away points of the season and a second straight league win for the first time since January.

Lucas Pires (Burnley) - 9.13

Pires provided two assists, created three chances and made five tackles, the most in the XI, as Burnley ended their winless start to the Championship season.

He also won 9 duels, made 2 clearances and a block, and had two shots.

One of the assists set up Marcus Edwards' late fourth goal. Burnley scored three times in the first 25 minutes through Jacob Bruun Larsen, Zeki Amdouni and Reo Hatate, and the result was their first away win since February.

Jordan Gibson (Crewe) - 8.25

Gibson scored the winner at Swindon in the 60th minute, curling Josh March's cutback into the far corner from one of his two shots.

He also created a chance from a first-half free kick, made an interception and two clearances, and won 6 duels, 3 of them in the air.

The goal followed his strike off the bench against Bristol Rovers a week earlier, and it ended Swindon's unbeaten home run in League Two while Crewe stayed unbeaten.

Jamie Donley (Luton Town) - 8.65

Donley scored and assisted in Luton's 4-1 win at Wycombe, and his five key passes were the most in the XI.

He set up Kasey Palmer's 16th-minute opener, then curled in the second in the 28th minute from one of his three shots, and three defensive contributions in the game.

The Tottenham loanee now has two goals and two assists in six League One games this season, and Luton moved up to 13th.

Kyle Dempsey (Port Vale) - 8.64

Dempsey scored the only goal against Grimsby and made 3 interceptions, the most in the XI, along with 2 tackles and a block.

His goal was a curling strike from outside the box on the stroke of half-time, his first for Port Vale, and he added two key passes, 6 duels won and 3 shots in total.

The win was only Port Vale's second of the season.

Paddy Lane (Reading) - 8.61

Lane opened the scoring at MK Dons in the 38th minute, finishing Udoka Malife's cross from close range, and created three chances in a 5-1 win.

He also made five clearances, a tackle and an interception from the right wing, and won 5 duels.

Reading are unbeaten in four league games, while MK Dons remain winless.

Patrick Bamford (Sheffield United) - 8.65

Bamford scored twice from two shots against Lincoln, a 100% conversion rate.

He finished Sam McCallum's cross in the 43rd minute and volleyed in Ben Brereton Diaz's delivery at the far post in the 77th, and he also won 5 duels and a foul in the final third.

Sheffield United's 3-0 win ended a three-match losing run in all competitions, against a Lincoln side that had won three of their previous four away games.

Kyle Wootton (Stockport) - 8.57

Wootton scored twice from three shots in Stockport's 3-1 comeback win over Barnsley, heading in Ollie Norwood's corner in the 61st minute and Jason Adigun's delivery 12 minutes later.

He won 8 duels, 4 of them in the air, and made 2 tackles.

They were his sixth and seventh league goals of the season, and the win lifted Stockport to third in League One.
