Salford City came from behind on the scoreboard to extend their winning run to seven league games, ending Walsall's unbeaten start to the League Two season in a breathless contest.

The Ammies set out in search of a seventh straight league victory and, after a patient spell of build-up play, finally broke through in the 45th minute. Luke Molyneux's neat pass found Macauley Langstaff on the right of the area, and the striker rifled a low finish inside the far post.

Nine minutes after the restart, Salford doubled their advantage. Brendan Wiredu won the ball from Courtney Clarke on the left edge of the Walsall box, and Jorge Grant was on hand to thump a shot inside the far post.

The Saddlers refused to fold. Tai Sodje's persistence down the right paid off in the 58th minute, when his forceful run and cutback was slammed home at the near post by Aaron Pressley. Parity was restored in the 66th minute, as Mason Hancock's delightful left-wing delivery was steered in by substitute Lewis Simper.

The hosts' joy was short-lived. Just over a minute later, Salford were back in front: Langstaff laid the ball off for Kallum Cesay, who beat Jed Ward from close range.

The contest was settled with eight minutes remaining. Molyneux's outswinging corner was met by Adebola Oluwo, who powered a header inside the near post to seal the points.
