The latest round of EFL Cup action produced some outstanding individual performances, with several players delivering decisive contributions in front of goal while others impressed with their defensive work.

From Ryan Christie's remarkable hat-trick for Bournemouth to Jørgen Strand Larsen's two-goal display for Crystal Palace, there was no shortage of attacking brilliance.

The round also provided a platform for emerging talents such as Max Dowman and Reyes Cleary to make their mark.

Reading may have been eliminated by Brentford, but Joel Pereira was one of the main reasons the League One side remained competitive.

Brentford eventually won 2-1, with Callum Wilson and Fabio Carvalho finding the net before Reading pulled one back. Pereira, however, was kept extremely busy and finished the match with seven saves.

Against a Premier League opponent who consistently tested his goal, the Reading goalkeeper repeatedly prevented Brentford from putting the tie beyond doubt. 6 of his seven saves came from inside the box, the most by any keeper in this round.

The 7.77 rating reflects the importance of those interventions. Although Reading ultimately exited the competition, Pereira produced one of the strongest goalkeeping displays of the round.

RB: Óscar Mingueza, Crystal Palace — 8.34

Crystal Palace produced a convincing 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough, and Óscar Mingueza was one of the key contributors. The right-back combined his defensive responsibilities with an important attacking contribution, registering one assist during the comfortable win.

Mingueza's defensive numbers were equally impressive. He made six tackles, three clearances and one interception, while winning seven duels.

That combination is particularly valuable in a cup tie where a team needs to deal with periods of pressure while also taking advantage of opportunities at the other end.

With Palace keeping a clean sheet and progressing comfortably, Mingueza's 8.34 rating reflects an excellent all-round performance.

CB: Honest Ahanor, Crystal Palace — 7.85

Alongside Mingueza, Honest Ahanor helped Palace keep Middlesbrough scoreless throughout the 90 minutes. The centre-back made nine clearances, the highest total among the defenders in this Team of the Round, while also recording one interception and two tackles.

Ahanor won six duels, including two aerial duels, as Palace dealt with Middlesbrough's attempts to attack through both the middle and from crosses.

The 7.85 rating is therefore backed up by a substantial defensive workload.

Palace's three-goal victory may have looked comfortable on the scoreboard, but their clean sheet required plenty of work from the back line, with Ahanor particularly prominent.

CB: Bafodé Diakité, Bournemouth — 7.83

Bournemouth were one of the most impressive sides of the round, beating Lincoln City 4-0, and Bafodé Diakité played an important role in keeping the visitors at bay. The defender contributed six clearances and won three duels, including three aerial duels.

His contribution was not restricted to defence, either. Diakité recorded one assist and even managed one shot on target as Bournemouth controlled the contest. The result was a clean sheet alongside four goals at the other end, giving Bournemouth a comfortable passage into the next round.

His 7.83 rating reflects the balance between defensive solidity and attacking contribution.

LB: Lewis Hall, Newcastle United — 8.64

Lewis Hall produced one of the strongest defensive performances of the round as Newcastle defeated Millwall 1-0. The Newcastle left-back registered one assist, giving him a direct attacking contribution despite the narrow scoreline.

His defensive statistics were equally strong. Hall made three tackles, two clearances, one interception and one block, while winning 10 duels, including two aerial duels.

The 10 duels won were particularly notable, demonstrating how often Hall was involved in contests throughout the match.

With Newcastle keeping a clean sheet and progressing to the next round, Hall's 8.64 rating was fully justified by his combination of defensive activity and attacking output.

RM: Allan, Manchester City — 8.64

Allan marked his Manchester City debut in spectacular fashion. City demolished Norwich City 5-0, and Allan contributed directly to two goals, scoring once and providing one assist.

The midfielder also recorded one shot on target, two successful dribbles, five duels won, six touches inside the opposition box and one key pass. His assist helped Floyd Samba open the scoring before Allan got his own name on the scoresheet.

The numbers underline how involved he was in City's attacking play. Six touches inside the Norwich penalty area from a midfielder demonstrate his willingness to arrive in dangerous positions, while his two successful dribbles added another dimension to City's attack.

CM: Max Dowman, Arsenal — 8.75

Max Dowman was one of the standout young performers of the round, producing a spectacular attacking display as Arsenal beat Ipswich Town 4-2. The teenager scored two goals and added one key pass, while also recording two shots on target.

His overall performance went well beyond his finishing. Dowman won eight duels, completed three dribbles and had four touches inside the opposition penalty area. That combination of attacking aggression and ability to beat opponents individually made him a constant threat.

A brace in a 4-2 victory was already enough to put him among the leading performers, but the supporting numbers explain his excellent 8.75 rating.

Dowman's performance was another reminder of how valuable the Carabao Cup can be as a platform for young players.

CM: Ryan Christie, Bournemouth — 10.00

There was one performance that stood above all others. Ryan Christie received a perfect 10.00 rating after scoring a hat-trick in Bournemouth's 4-0 victory over Lincoln City.

Reyes Cleary was at the heart of Barnsley's attacking performance, scoring two goals. He finished with three shots on target, won nine duels and completed four dribbles.

But perhaps the most eye-catching number was his 13 touches inside the opposition penalty area. That was more than any other player in the round, demonstrating just how frequently Cleary found himself in dangerous positions.

Barnsley ultimately lost the shootout, but Cleary's individual performance was one of the most impressive attacking displays of the round. His 9.14 rating reflects both the goals and the volume of involvement that preceded them.

ST: Jørgen Strand Larsen, Crystal Palace — 9.39

Jørgen Strand Larsen was the decisive figure in Crystal Palace's 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough.
